Evening of Chamber Music 2009-11-07 7:30 pm You are invited to an Evening of Chamber Music at Lakeside Heights Baptist Church on Saturday, November 7th at 7:30. The church’s unique, hexagonal sanctuary is a wonderful place to experience the intimate nature of chamber music, where you can see and hear everything. The evening’s program, rich with musical treasures from the Romantic era – from fantasy to lyricism to elfin exuberance - is sure to lift your spirits out of the dreariness of the dark Montreal November. The program opens with the imaginative and songful Schumann Fantasy Pieces for cello and piano, followed by the tender, pastoral Schubert song, “On the River” for French horn, soprano and piano. From there we go to alternately the passionate and playful Spanish love songs of Granados’ Canciones Amatorias. The program concludes with Mendelssohn’s fantastical Trio for violin, cello, and piano in D Minor. The musicians are from the Montreal Symphony Orchestra – violinist Claire Segal, cellist, Gerald Morin, and horn player, David Marlowe - along with soprano, Susanna Eyton-Jones and Lakeside Heights Music Director, Sylvia Bruns. All of them live in the West-Island. A free-will donation can be given at the door, with the suggestion of $10 per adult. All of the donations will go to the Christian Action Food Bank, which is an ecumenical group of 10 church congregations assisting those in need in the Pointe-Claire area. Come and share together in the enjoyment of beautiful music in our community, by our community, for our community. |
